For the first time on the album, I pick up my trusty acoustic guitar. Hold On is a bouncy yet meaningful and hopeful song about depression, mental health, brotherhood and family. The beautiful harmony backing vocals accentuate the sentiment of the lyrics, “All the seeds you buried in darkness will find the light to grow”. Hold On’s acoustic instrumentation and warm Americana production lends itself to its overall message; The smoke will clear, the dust will settle and we will make it through together.
lyrics
You've found yourself lost for words to say
On your knees, you can't carry your own weight
You don't know where you belong
You don't know why you're holding on
Don't give up
Don't let go
All the seeds you buried in darkness
Will find the light to grow
And I know you're broken
Down outta luck
So just hold on, brother
We were kids doing anything we could
Taking on the world, 'Team Brotherhood'
I got you, oh! You got me too
Oohh 'cause that's what brothers do
Don't give up
Don't let go
All the seeds you buried in darkness
Will find the light to grow
And I know you're broken
Down outta luck
So just hold on, brother
When your mountain's are crumbling down
And your river is just cold hard ground
When you're drowning, lost at sea
Just hold on, brother
Hold on to me...
And don't give up
Don't let go
All the seeds you buried in darkness
Will find the light to grow
And I know you're broken
Down outta luck
So just hold on, brother
And don't give up
Don't let go
All the seeds you buried in darkness
Will find the light to grow
And I know you're broken
Down outta luck
So just hold on, brother
And don't give up
Don't give up
Don't give up
