As the first single off the album, Lock Me Up is your classic unrequited love song with a twist. Lock Me Up is about becoming engulfed in the
pursuit of love, a hopeless romantic out of control, a fugitive on the run, pleading guilty to be locked up before committing the crime of stealing someone's heart. I like the clever lyrics, themes and imagery. The moody verses open up beautifully to an anthemic chorus with thumping bass and drums and a guitar solo worth turning up as loud as possible!
lyrics
Somebody lock me up
I'm trying to steal your heart
Mine got taken, torn all apart
Is it wrong or is it right?
You're the one that keeps me up all night
I'm a victim of your heart's conviction
So you better lock me up
Somebody lock me up
Somebody lock me up
I'm trying to steal your heart
Come on and lock me up
Lord, forgive my sins
I won't plead my innocence
I'm so guilty just charge me my sentence, oh!
And lock me up
Somebody lock me up
Somebody lock me up
I'm trying to steal your heart
Come on and lock me up
On the run, we're driving full speed
I've played my cards and I'm playing for keeps
Put your heart on the line, oh!
I'm gonna take it
I'm gonna to make it mine all mine
Somebody lock me up
I'm trying to steal your heart
Mine got taken, torn all apart
Somebody lock me up
Somebody lock me up
I'm trying to steal your heart
Come on and lock me up, lock me up
Somebody lock me up
Somebody lock me up
I'm trying to steal your heart
Come on and lock me up, lock me up!
